Our client's child, a 20-month-old boy, was born with a congenital neurological condition. He was brought to a physician after suffering for two days from lack of energy, irritability and vomiting. The physician admitted the baby to the hospital with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis (inflammation of the intestines) with dehydration and an ear infection. During the evening, the baby's condition did not improve. In the morning, the physician correctly changed the diagnosis to increased pressure on the brain. The baby died on the way to a CT scan.

Our client was proceeding through an intersection when she was hit by a car that ran a stop sign. After the collision, our client's car was flipped over. She received injuries to her right shoulder, a scalp laceration and injuries to her neck, back and hip.

After heavy drinking at a downtown St. Paul bar, a man stumbled to his car (.32 blood alcohol level) and roared out of his parking spot along a city street. He ran a red light at the end of the block and hit an MTC bus driven by our client, forcing the bus to crash into a building. The MTC driver suffered severe injuries that left her with permanent disabilities. Ironically, the entire accident was caught on film by the bus stop security camera nearby.

Our 65 year old client needed repair of a large abdominal aortic aneurysm.  His surgeons attempted repair using an endovascular prosthesis despite his less than favorable vascular anatomy for this approach. During the attempted repair, the prosthesis migrated and totally occluded the right renal artery and partially blocked the left renal artery.  This caused the surgeons to convert to an open surgery to prevent permanent harm to the kidneys and required a different repair of the aneurysm; all of which resulted in a very long surgical procedure.  The significant surgical time led to significant bowel edema, delayed surgical closure and multiple subsequent surgeries.  Our client recovered but was left with permanent abdominal weakness and disfigurement. Paul Schweiger obtained a settlement from the health care provider's insurer in the amount of $225,000.

Art Kosieradzki represented the parents of a 8 month old boy who fell from a Little Tykes slide at his home daycare to a carpeted floor below. His daycare provider noticed that he was behaving "unusually" so she called 911. Paramedics found the boy unresponsive with no signs of external injuries. His brain injuries were discovered at the hospital and he has permanent brain damage as a result of this fall. Our client has a permanent significant learning disability and will require future medical treatment.

On a summer morning at 5:40 am, our client was driving to work. He was traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 in St Paul, MN when he was struck in the rear right side of his Chevrolet Silverado pick up. The impact caused our client to violently strike the cement median and then his vehicle rolled several times. His truck was a total loss as a result of the accident. 

Our client was a passenger on a flight from Minneapolis/St Paul to San Antonio, Texas. As the Airbus was backing away from the gate, it was hit by a DC-9; the collision occurred when the hydraulic system on the DC-9 failed and the airplane lost steering and braking ability. The two planes were evacuated and at least 11 people were injured. Our client, a successful soldier in the U.S. Army, injured his leg and back and received a medical discharge as a result of the injuries he received in this accident. His promising military career was cut short and he was able only to earn a much lower income than he had in the Army. He lost other military benefits for himself and his family and his physical limitations prevent him from living the lifestyle he had worked so hard to attain.

Our client was wrongfully denied no-fault benefits from her insurance company. She was the passenger in a vehicle involved in a head-on collision when the driver attempted to pass a slower vehicle. The driver of her vehicle was killed as a result of the accident and our client sustained significant injuries.

Our client was in Indiana on business traveling on a freeway when she was rear-ended and pushed into a concrete median by a semi. The semi continued down the highway and collided with another semi before stopping.

Our client was driving his snowmobile on a trail in Itasca County when he was struck by another snowmobile heading the opposite direction. The driver that hit our client had been drinking at a local bar and was intoxicated at the time of the collision. His BAL was .204, over two times the legal limit, and he was arrested and prosecuted for operating a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol.
